Season 1 Trailer: The Midwives of Jesus

Mary Magdalene? A prostitute. Pilate's wife? A footnote. We've all been handed stories about the women of the New Testament—most of them wrong. Season 1 starts September 11.

The first season of The Approachable Jesus pairs a guest's real story of approaching Jesus with the women in scripture I call the Midwives of Jesus—women who helped deliver him and his gospel to the world. It's also the title of my study guide, out this December.

Follow the show so you're ready when the first episode drops.

We've all been told a lot of stories. Mary Magdalene, a prostitute. Pilate's wife. Just a footnote. Martha, the one doing it wrong. The women in the New Testament can feel like background characters cheering on the men doing the real work. But they were not in the background to Jesus. I'm Heather Ruth Pack, and this is season 1 of The Approachable Jesus. Each week I sit down with a guest with diverse faith traditions and journeys. They tell stories of how they actually approach Jesus. Not the Sunday School answer. The real one.

We also look at stories of women in Scripture and consider how their lives might have been like ours. I call them midwives of Jesus, women who helped deliver Jesus and his gospel to the world. It's also the title of my study guide, available December 2026. Most episodes come with a short bonus episode, Dude and Woman. That's where I share what I learned from my guest with my husband. Dude. Follow the Approachable Jesus wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts so you're ready when the first episode drops on September 11.
